Canning Attempt

Today I got some peaches from my cousin and my mom came over to help me learn to can peaches. My grandma used to always can and I remember eating jars and jars of canned peaches growing up! But I didn't learn how to can before my grandma passed away in 2004.

So tonight was round 1 of a canning attempt. It's not the pressure canner way of canning -- I don't even know how to explain it! But I was impressed with what we got done -- four batches -- 13 jars.

I didn't set them out quite right, but once they are out, you can't move them for 24 hours, so here they are. What a beautiful color!
Just don't look too closely -- you'll see an air bubble! My mom said that air bubbles can make the jars not seal...we'll see in the morning!
I can't wait to try them -- and then we'll have yummy peaches in the winter! Thanks Mom for your help!!!
