Graduation

A recipe for cheap and easy entertainment:

2 tossed aside graduation hats from high school graduation

2 silly boys
1 mommy who is willing to put the hats on over and over and over again

The result? Two very happy little boys!

PS -- on another note, I had two students walk through graduation for my school on Thursday night. What a wonderful experience that was. I am so proud of these girls. And so I must brag on them. The first one I met when we were both pregnant over 2 years ago. She was a junior and worked hard to finish up her school work before her son was born. She was also working at Carl's Jr. She had hoped to finish up during her senior year, but that didn't happen, so when I ran into her last summer, I motivated her to come back to school. She did. And then this semester she added in Cosmetology school while finishing up with 42 units this semester. Wow. What a girl. I'm so proud of you B!
My second girl to graduate dropped out of school over five years ago when her son was born. When he started in kindergarten this past fall, she had to fill out the form and mark that she (the parent) was not a high school graduate. That motivated her to come back to school even though she has two small boys. She passed the CAHSEE (CA high school exit exam) and finished up her courses while in a custody battle. There was a mix up at the end of the semester, but God did a miracle and she was able to graduate after all. Good job L!

I know this blog is about my family, but teaching is what I do -- and these girls have been a part of my life. I was so proud to see them walk across that stage and I know they will do good things with their lives.

What beautiful young women (you included). They look so proud of their accomplishment and they well should be. Congratulations to them, and to you for being their mentor. What a ministry you have!
